Use Your Sequencing Expertise to Advance Forensic Science The Philadelphia Police Department’s Office of Forensic Science is seeking experienced molecular biology and sequencing professionals to help expand a new forensic DNA sequencing program. This opportunity is particularly relevant for scientists with hands-on experience using Illumina NextSeq 2000 or MiSeq i100 Series platforms, as well as professionals with expertise in next-generation sequencing workflows, library preparation, assay optimization, quality assurance, sequencing data evaluation, whole-genome amplification, or genetic genealogy laboratory methods. A special experience substitution broadens the pathway into forensic science. Qualifying experience in DNA sequencing, whole-genome amplification, or laboratory methods related to genetic genealogy, gained in academia, private industry, or an equivalent forensic science setting, may substitute year-for-year for traditional forensic biology examiner or forensic scientist experience. This is an opportunity to apply advanced molecular biology and sequencing capabilities in an accredited forensic science environment where the work directly supports criminal investigations, public safety, and the continued development of emerging forensic technologies.
