Glycomics

Glycomics studies the full complement of glycans (carbohydrate structures) in a cell, tissue or organism, plus how they attach to proteins and lipids (glyco-conjugates). Modern workflows combine LC-MS/MS released-glycan analysis, glycoproteomics (intact and tryptic), glycan microarrays, and structural databases (GlyTouCan, GlyGen, GlyConnect) — all underpinned by standardized nomenclature (SNFG) and ontologies.
