Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 1, 2026
This page is maintained by the BioPath team to explain what personal information the platform collects and how we handle it. It is not legal advice or a certification.
1. Who we are
BioPath ("we", "us") operates an AI-powered career guidance platform for life sciences and bioinformatics learners, researchers, and professionals.
2. Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, password hash, language preference.
- Profile data: education, skills, goals, uploaded resume, portfolio links you choose to add.
- Usage data: pages viewed, roadmaps generated, quizzes taken, AI prompts, session metadata.
- Payment data: processed by our payment provider; we store only subscription status and identifiers, not full card details.
- Communications: messages you send to mentors, coaches, or support.
3. How we use your information
- Provide roadmaps, mentorship, learning tools, and AI features you request.
- Personalize recommendations and track your progress.
- Operate the service: authentication, billing, security, fraud prevention.
- Communicate updates, reminders, and — with your consent — marketing.
- Improve the platform through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
4. Legal bases
We process personal data under contract (delivering the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (securing and improving the platform), consent (marketing, optional integrations), and legal obligation (tax, accounting).
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share limited data with service providers who help us run the platform — hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, payments, and AI model providers — under contract and only as needed. Mentors and coaches see the profile information you choose to share when you book a session.
6. Retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, tax, or security reasons.
7. Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time from Privacy & Your Data. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to restrict or object to certain processing and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit, row-level access controls, and least-privilege access to protect your data. No online service is 100% secure; we work continuously to improve protections.
10. Children
BioPath is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on the platform or by email before they take effect.
